JACOB HANCOCK-HERNÁNDEZ
Writer | Filmmaker | Storyteller

ABOUT ME
Hi there! My name is Jacob Hancock-Hernández. I am a recent graduate from the Documentary Film Program at Wake Forest University, where I received my MFA. My film, “SIDELINES,” tells the story of high school sports media, and how the industry with once strong roots in print media has shifted to newer digital platforms.
Prior to enrolling at WFU, I received my Bachelors in Media and Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I started my career as a sports writer, working for The Daily Record (Dunn, NC), Sporting News (Charlotte, NC) and HighSchoolOT (Winston-Salem/Triad Region of NC).
I love sports, but my passion is storytelling. I enjoy finding those stories where sports and life intersect. I believe that with the right approach, sports can serve as a medium to tell stories about anything —race, politics, culture and the failures and triumphs of humanity.
Do you have a story, but need help telling it? I’d love to hear your story! Feel free to fill out the contact form below, or reach out to me via LinkedIn.
